Why Join?
The reasons are many:
- First, the fellowship, support and friendship of your peers is invaluable.
- The many opportunities to improve your own education, whether from learning about Fair Trade Coffee (Navan), modern farming techniques (Cumberland), identity theft (Leonard), prescription drug issues (Russell) or recycling (North Russell). Each year, at least one of these events is open to the general public and is part of what is known as the ROSE program (or Rural Ontario Sharing Education). If everyone learns something new every day, we all benefit.
- To contribute to improving the quality of life of our local communities and the larger world in which we live. You will be involved in many community service activities such as planting flowers, working at the fair, offering scholarships and bursaries, etc. At the international level, many branches contribute to ACWW and FWIO projects, while others use their funds to support specific international aid organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Grannies for Africa.
